Air Balancing
What is Air Balancing?
Air Balancing is the art of evenly distributing ductwork airflow via the use of dampers and airflow measurements.
To properly balance airflow in your home, a Spencer Heat and Air HVAC technician will do the following:
✓ Calculate each room’s airflow requirements and adjust airflow accordingly. This usually requires the installation of adjustable balancing dampers, as adjustments must be made at the blower rather than the ceiling outlet.
✓ Install additional ductwork or repair existing ductwork, when dampers alone cannot correct the problem. Deficiencies in a home or building’s ductwork must be remedied before the system can be balanced.
✓ Install a special type of grill to balance your system, if you have a two-story home and/or inaccessible ductwork.
Problematic Ductwork
If you have hot or cold spots in your home, it might be due to duct problems. Your ductwork may need to be repaired or replaced. Fixing damaged ductwork can significantly reduce heating and cooling costs and ensure more comfortable and consistent temperatures throughout your home.
